NARAL members call their senators to oppose GOP attempts to dismantle healthcare

Anti-choice lawmakers have really outdone themselves recently. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senate Republicans today will try to move forward once again with a vote to gut our nation’s health law. Countless Americans depend on the cancer screenings, maternal care, contraception, and other basic medical services the Affordable Care Act makes accessible, yet the GOP continues to try and advance plans that target women and families. Their plans could leave people quite literally to die without healthcare — or to go bankrupt in a desperate attempt not to.

NARAL’s million-plus members and our allies won’t be intimidated. Since the beginning of this fight, they’ve been sharing their stories, calling their elected representatives, tweeting, faxing, rallying, protesting, and flooding town halls and legislative debates to show that women are watching and we won’t back down.

Do you have a personal story you would like to share about how our nation’s healthcare law has changed your life for the better? Submit your story.

Consweila (MO)

With the help of Planned Parenthood clinicians, my husband and I planned our family. I am a mother to two beautiful kids — a boy and a girl. I’ve used Planned Parenthood most of my life — from my birth control options, to pre-pregnancy preparation, and my current screenings and contraception needs.

Momo (FL)

When I was 10 years old, I had a traumatic incident that basically ruined my uterus and ovaries. When I was 11, I noticed that I was bleeding way more than usual. At 13, I almost lost my life due to blood loss. Without birth control, I would die.

Norm (IN)

Our family has been fortunate, since we have all had good health insurance through our employment. However, that is not the case for most of the people in this country.

Obamacare will without a doubt save my life.

Mike (CO)

If ACA is overturned, the cost of healthcare will continue its meteoric ascent to the benefit of fewer and fewer Americans.

Bill (PA)

I am on disability with diabetes, high blood pressure, and fourth stage kidney failure. [The Republican healthcare plan] would mean higher costs, less care, and possibly death.
