Lawmakers hostile to our fundamental rights in states like North Dakota, Alabama, and Mississippi are engaging in a coordinated attempt to ban transgender children from playing sports and eliminate access to gender-affirming healthcare. Of course, anti-choice activists have joined this chorus of attacks, amplifying harmful disinformation about transgender and non-binary people. Like the broader conservative movement, they disingenuously feign “concern” for cisgender women and girls to provide cover for their dangerous and discriminatory views.
Does your dog let out a yelp every time Fox News flashes across your screen? Has your pup been known to start chasing their tail at the sound of Senator Ted Cruz’s voice? Does your pupper bark back at anti-choice disinformation?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you might have a pro-choice pup on your hands. Your certified good boy might be trying to tell you something — that they’re one of the 7 in 10 Americans (or pups) that supports reproductive freedom. Now that you’ve established that you have a pro-choice pup, you might be…
With a Trump-shaped hole in the Republican Party and a wave of conspiracy theorists finding footholds in the halls of Congress, the GOP is more extreme than ever. To cover up their extremism and the violence it has incited, they’re in search of a sideshow, and their emerging strategy is one we’ve seen before — papering over the cracks in their party with inflammatory anti-choice rhetoric and disinformation.
The strategy is out in full force at Fox News. According to Media Matters, Fox News experienced its “worst month” for television ratings in nearly 21 years in January. Their solution to…

Michelle Browder, a nationally recognized artist and activist, is bringing light to racial disparities in healthcare through art, history, and long-overdue conversations. She is the Executive and Artistic Director of the More Up Campus Capitol Campaign — which seeks to participate in the national reckoning around race in the United States by finding creative ways to honor the voiceless, the minimalized, and the ignored.
Informed decision-making was not an option for the enslaved women J. Marion Sims ruthlessly experimented on. But Michelle Browder is trying to subvert the narrative that elevated Sims to be “the father of gynecology.” Alongside artists…
In 1968, Shirley Chisholm became the first Black woman elected to the United States Congress. She was also the first Black woman to compete for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination and the first Black presidential candidate for either party.
Chisholm proposed pro-choice legislation in Congress and encouraged the New York State legislature to repeal restrictive abortion laws. In 1969, Chisholm was named the honorary co-president of NARAL. She believed that access to abortion and reproductive healthcare should be treated as a vital part of healthcare for all, regardless of race, class, marital status, or age.
Chisholm passed away in 2005…
Disinformation, or falsehoods and rumors spread with the intention of causing harm, is a tactic used by the radical right to erode our democracy and fundamental rights. Here’s how anti-choice groups use disinformation to chip away at reproductive freedom in communities of color.
The Radical Right tries to use their aggressive opposition to abortion as a shield to deflect criticism. If they can convince the public that their political ideology is an article of faith, it’s harder to challenge. They’re then free to ignore issues of systemic inequality and to actively disempower the people who need access to abortion care.

It’s no surprise that as we get closer to the election, Donald Trump and other Republican politicians are scrambling to distract from a massive economic recession, months of protests against racial injustice and police brutality, and the fact that their gross negligence and determination to put ideology over science has led to a staggering coronavirus death toll in the United States of nearly 200,000 lives lost. …
